A Canadian Organisation is looking to hire up to 10 foreign workers to fill the Registered Nurse role in a long-term care facility in Canada, where you will be expected to work with senior citizens. As a registered nurse, you will uphold institutional rules and standards of care, as well as the norms and standards established by governing bodies, while continuously enhancing nursing practice.
Duties
- Ensure that all medical directives, administrative rules, and established nursing standards and principles are followed when providing care for residents.
- Work with other team members to establish, implement, review, and evaluate resident care plans after consulting with residents and their families.
- Assist in the assessment and monitoring of residents.
- Administer drugs and therapies per the resident’s care plan or a doctor’s prescription.
- You may have to provide supportive counseling and life skills training for the residents.
- Oversee the work of the personal care and nursing support staff assigned to the unit, including orientations and other supervisory responsibilities.
- Keep track of performance, perform performance reviews, and bring issues to the Director of Care’s attention.
- If the Director of Care is absent, give the nursing department guidance.
Qualifications
- A valid certificate of competence issued by the College of Nurses of Ontario and be eligible for licensure as a practical nurse (Bachelor’s degree in Nursing).
- Registration with the Ontario Registered Nurses Association or eligible for registration.
- First Aid and CPR certifications.
- A minimum of 4 years of full-time, verifiable nursing experience
- A desire to help others and a heart of service.
- Prior long-term care experience of a similar nature and a thorough understanding of responsibilities are advantages.
- Capacity to prioritize things according to urgency while working independently and collaboratively.
- Outstanding verbal and writing communication and comprehension skills in English (IELTS 6).
- Ability to oversee the care team and guide them.
- Capacity for creative problem-solving and “big picture” thinking.
