Responsibilities
- Cook and prepare whole meals as well as specific dishes and foods.
- Prepare meals for customers who have allergies or intolerances.
- Cook and prepare customized meals for patients under the guidance of a dietitian or chef.
- Ensure that menus are planned, food portions are determined, food needs and costs are estimated, and supplies are monitored and ordered.
- Ensure that staff members are trained in meal preparation, cooking, and handling.
- Supervise kitchen employees and assistants.
- Maintain food, supply, and equipment inventories and documents.
- Keep the kitchen and work spaces clean.
- Plan and coordinate buffets and banquets.
- Direct and oversee kitchen operations.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in the English language
- Candidates without a formal certificate, diploma, or degree will be considered.
- Between 2 to 3 years of experience as a cook, particularly with cuisine specialties.
- Experience working in a restaurant and urban area is desirable.
- High organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure in a physically demanding and fast-paced environment with repetitive tasks.
- Capacity to carry heavy loads and stand for prolonged periods.
- Outstanding verbal communication and teamwork skills, with a strong customer focus
- Proven record of dependability and reliability.
- Ability to exercise good judgement, initiative and flexibility.
- Willingness to work overtime, as required.
